Eastwood, Sydney: One dead, two women in hospital after multi-car crash

A multi-car crash has left one person dead and two fighting for life in hospital and traffic for Sydney’s northwest at a standstill.

It’s understood that six vehicles were involved in the crash that occurred at the intersection of First Ave and Blaxland Rd in Eastwood at about 1.30pm on Wednesday.

Motorists are told to expect delays and to use an alternative route if possible, with First Ave closed in both directions as emergency services and the crash investigation unit remain on the scene during peak hour.

NSW Police has confirmed that one person died at the scene following the crash.

Two women are fighting for life in a critical condition in hospital after the crash.

Paramedics rushed one woman to Royal North Shore Hospital and another to Westmead Hospital in critical conditions, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said. A man was also taken to Royal North Shore in a stable condition.

Four others sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.

They will all undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.

Police have urged motorists to avoid the area, with “extended” delays expected.

More to come.
